The Environmental Financial Consulting Group (EFCG) announced on April 4, 2024, that Stantec’s EVP and Chief Financial Officer Theresa Jang has been awarded EFCG’s prestigious “CFO of the Year” Award.
Ms. Jang was presented with the award at EFCG’s 24th Annual CFO Conference, which took place in Chicago, IL from April 3-5, 2024. Each year, the conference brings together ~150 financial leaders globally across the Architecture, Engineering, and Consulting (AEC) Industry to discuss EFCG’s first look at the industry’s performance on a variety of business metrics and engage on the biggest financial and strategic challenges CFOs are focused on today. This year’s event covered topics such as technology trends & AI, building the future executive financial team, driving profitability, and effective CFO strategies in M&A.
EFCG presents the CFO of the Year Award to a CFO who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the industry. Past recipients include Dan Lefaivre (Stantec), Craig Denson (HNTB), Tom Bennet (TRC), Terry Cox (HDR), Cindy Milrany (Freese and Nichols), Alan Jennat (Arup Americas), and Chris Nelson (McKim & Creed).
“We are recognizing Theresa Jang for her contributions to Stantec as a CFO who has helped lead the firm through tremendous financial growth, multiple successful acquisitions, and acceleration of the evolution of Stantec’s financial operations,” said Julie Hasiba, EFCG Managing Partner.
Theresa joined Stantec in September 2018 and took over the role of Chief Financial Officer in January 2019. Over her tenure, she has seen the firm through 16 strategic acquisitions, employee count has grown from 22,000 to 30,000, and Stantec’s market capitalization has soared from $3.5 billion to $12.2 billion at the end of 2023. Theresa also serves as the Chair of Stantec’s Executive ESG Committee.
In her acceptance speech, Jang stated, “I am honored to be named EFCG’s CFO of the Year and am very appreciative of this recognition. I am surrounded by an amazing team at Stantec who give their all every single day to contribute to the company’s success.”
