EFCG Announces Another Successful Closed Deal

EFCG is pleased to announce that Climate Investment Partners (Climate Investment Partners), a Virginia-based provider of carbon finance to local communities, rural landowners, and on-the-ground organizations, has acquired the Envira Amazonia Project from our client, CarbonCo, LLC (CarbonCo), a New York-based project development and investment company that invests in, develops, and provides advisory services to carbon-reducing assets and projects globally, with a particular focus on forest conservation.

Originally financed, designed, and implemented by CarbonCo in 2012, the Envira Amazonia Project is one of the largest REDD+ projects in the world and one of only a handful of REDD+ projects to be validated and verified to the Climate, Community & Biodiversity Standards (CCBS) with Triple Gold Level Distinction for the Project’s exceptional biodiversity and community benefits, along with the Project’s incorporation of climate change mitigation activities. Located near the city of Feijó in the State of Acre, Brazil, the Envira Amazonia Project protects nearly 500,000 acres of tropical rainforest and has mitigated the release of more than 12.5 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions, resulting in significant benefits to the surrounding environment and community. Congratulations to both CarbonCo and Climate Investment Partners on the successful transition of the Envira Amazonia Project!

EFCG initiated and advised CarbonCo in the transaction.
