Kate Harris 2022 CEO of the Year, EFCG, Environmental Financial Consulting Group CEO Conference

Kate is the sixth President in Stanley’s 100-year history, and the first ever external CEO. Kate leveraged her 30 years of international experience in the construction, engineering, and consulting sector to inspire the 1,000 engineers, scientists, and consultants at Stanley and align on a strategic shift that resulted in more than doubling Stanley’s EBITDA over the past five years.

Kate’s innovative leadership and out-of-the-box thinking have transformed Stanley Consultants. She has created a cutting-edge digital strategy, while reinforcing Stanley’s mission to remain an enduring energy and infrastructure leader and to provide resilient, sustainable solutions built to withstand the test of time.

Kate graduated with a first-class honors degree in Quantity Surveying in the U.K and completed the Advanced Management and Intellectual Property programs at Harvard. She is a Board Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors and a member of Women Corporate Directors. In addition to serving as a trustee of Stanley’s retirement programs and chair of the Stanley Consultants Charitable Foundation, Kate also serves on the ACEC Research Institute board.

The first thing you notice when you speak with Kate Harris is how much she cares about people. She truly lives Stanley’s mantra of “Improving Lives Since 1913.” Kate was quick to realize the negative effects that the pandemic was having on Stanley’s staff and added programs for employees to address mental health issues early on. She spearheaded improvements in the employee benefit packages and gave considerable thought to workspace changes and hybrid schedules.

Kate has a passion for people and purpose and spends considerable time mentoring and guiding the young professionals in her firm. She emphasizes that leaders must identify and support great talent, and Kate exemplifies that by personally mentoring dozens of her employees.

For her outstanding leadership, her steadfast focus on ethics and integrity, and her consistently innovative and effective approach, EFCG is delighted to recognize Kate Harris with our 2022 CEO of the Year award.
