Denver, CO – The Environmental Financial Consulting Group (EFCG) announces that Phillip A. Washington, Chief Executive Officer of Denver International Airport (DEN), will serve as a keynote speaker at the 2025 EFCG Sustainability & ESG Conference, taking place December 3-5, 2025.
Phillip A. Washington has built a distinguished career advancing infrastructure, sustainability, and equity across some of the nation’s largest transportation systems. As CEO of Denver International Airport, the world’s sixth-busiest airport by passenger traffic in 2024, Washington leads an organization with an annual economic impact of $47.2 billion, 40,000 employees, and more than 200 concessions.
Since his appointment in 2021 and reconfirmation in 2023, Washington has guided Denver International Airport through a transformative period of growth. His Vision 100 initiative aims to prepare DEN to serve 100 million passengers by 2030, supported by a $10 billion Capital Improvement Program that includes key sustainability measures such as expanding solar energy use, reducing the airport’s carbon footprint, and developing the Center of Equity & Excellence in Aviation, a pioneering workforce development hub for the next generation of aviation professionals.
Before joining DEN, Washington led two of the largest public transportation agencies in the U.S. - the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) and the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) - where he delivered landmark capital projects, implemented innovative financing strategies, and championed sustainable urban mobility initiatives.
A U.S. Army veteran who retired as a Command Sergeant Major after 24 years of service, Washington has been recognized nationally for his leadership and contributions to public transportation and infrastructure development. His many honors include induction into the American Public Transportation Association Hall of Fame (2023) and recognition as a White House Transportation Innovators Champion of Change.
“We are honored to welcome Phil Washington as a keynote speaker at this year’s EFCG Sustainability & ESG Conference,” said Andreas Georgoulias, PhD, Director of Sustainability & ESG at EFCG. “His leadership and insights into the evolution of aviation and large-scale public infrastructure promise to inspire meaningful dialogue among industry leaders shaping sustainability and resilience across the AEC sector.”
The 2025 EFCG Sustainability & ESG Conference convenes senior executives and sustainability leaders from the Architecture, Engineering, and Consulting (A/E/C) industry to discuss critical ESG strategies, climate action, and sustainable business transformation.
