CEO & Executive Leadership
Since 1990, EFCG has hosted its annual legacy CEO Conference, bringing together executive leaders from across the A/E/C space to engage on the industry’s biggest challenges.
In light of COVID-19, EFCG hosted it’s first virtual 2020 Executive Leadership Conference, a combined event welcoming CEOs, CFOs, and other senior leaders, with the goal of bringing A/E/C leadership teams together to understand the financial state of the industry and draw from best practices to navigate the “new normal.” During this virtual Executive Leadership Conference on October 7-9, 2020, EFCG pulled 30 years of proprietary industry data to critically assess industry performance and disclosed high-impact insights. Distinguished panelists and keynote speakers explored shifting industry trends and drew from their experience to dive into decisive topics such as managing the new workforce, seizing cash flow opportunities, and reshaping technology’s role in what and how firms deliver to the market.
In 2021, we will offer our premier CEO and CFO Conferences again, tailoring each event to its unique audience. You can request an invitation to be part of our 2021 CEO Conference or 2021 CFO Conference, and experience the high-value content that makes EFCG conferences best-in-class.
In preparation for this year’s CEO Conference, we have been continuously monitoring the progression of the vaccination distribution and world health guidelines. With hopeful determination, we plan to host this year’s event in person, while still paying close attention to the situation as the health and safety of our attendees is always our first priority.
If we find we are unable to host the event in person, we will instead host the event virtually as we did last year, a decision that will be made no later than August 1st. If we host the event virtually, we will then also host a one-day mini-conference in person for those who attended the virtual event. This will take place at a later date when safe to host larger gatherings (likely in the winter of 2021 or spring of 2022). We look forward to providing you with the chance to engage in both the EFCG content and the peer connections and appreciate your understanding as we navigate these uncertain times.
Similar to our other conferences, all participant firms are required to complete a detailed financial survey, the results of which are presented at the conference and drive a significant portion of the agenda. All survey participants will receive confidential, industry-aggregated data reports and presentations as well.

The primary focus of this conference is to help CEOs better manage the leadership, strategy, finances, profitability and funding of their firms. All participating firms are required to complete a detailed financial survey, covering over 150 different business metrics including past and projected performance. This data is analyzed and presented by EFCG at the conference, and is followed by several panels, speakers and workshops, each covering a different set of topics and issues raised by the survey. Over the past 28 years, this data and the discussion at the CEO Conference, have become the primary source of data for CEOs in this industry, by which to plan their business strategies, to help identify key challenges, and to lead and improve their firm's performance.
Key Topics to be covered this year include:
Industry trends and outlook
Preparing your business for a recession
What really drives profitability
Diversification – what does it take to be successful?
Ownership transitions vs leadership transitions
Managing and motivating your leadership team
Advantages / disadvantages of different ownership models
Competing for talent
