Sarah is Director of Air, Climate, & Energy Programs for California Association of Sanitation Agencies (CASA). Her 23-year career has focused on assessing the sustainability and vulnerability of water and wastewater operations and infrastructure in effort to embed resilience into those systems in the face of climate change and other natural hazards. This work includes seeking innovative solutions to managing GHG emissions while maintaining resource recovery (or the circular economy). She is
the former Director (and founder) of Carollo’s Resilience & Sustainability Tech Practice, former chair of both WEF’s GHG and Bioenergy Technology Subcommittees, former
chair of AWWA’s Climate Change Committee and recipient of AWWA’s Water Resource Sustainability Division Outstanding Achievement, Service, and Initiative in Sustainability Award. Sarah has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Atmospheric,
Oceanic, and Space Science, a master’s in Environmental Engineering, and a graduate certificate in Industrial Ecology from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. Sarah is
also a registered professional engineer and credentialed Envision Sustainability Professional.
