Denzil is a partner and one of the founders of Buro Happold’s North America business. Having been with the firm for more than 30 years, he currently serves as Chair of the Strategic Advisory Group and is a member of the North America Executive Leadership team. With an MEP engineering background, Denzil is a leader in delivering groundbreaking design and technologies for his clients where he uses his creativity and passion to push the boundaries on sustainability initiatives and urgent climate-change imperatives. He has led some of the world’s most pioneering, high-performance projects, including the Dubai Expo 2020 Sustainability Pavilion, designed to achieve net zero energy, water and waste. Denzil is focused on the implementation of integrated environmental design engineering methodologies across sectors – from commercial and mixed-use developments to higher education, science and tech and cultural institutions. He is a council member of the Van Alen Institute (VAI) and is an active supporter of the Neighborhoods Now initiative – a collaboration between the Urban Design Forum and the VAI. This partnership connects struggling New York City neighborhoods and construction firms.
