Paul has been a strategic and financial adviser to the CEO’s in the a/e/c industry for the past 25 years. He founded the Environmental Financial Consulting Group (EFCG) in 1990, after 17 years in finance at Citibank and at Oppenheimer, where he was Managing Director in Investment Banking. He is an alumnus of Harvard College, Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School. He is a long-term environmentalist (see “Zofnass Commitment to the Environment”), having assisted Harvard to establish its Environmental Studies Program in the 1990’s; initiating and contributing the Zofnass Tree Identification Program to NYC’s Central Park; creating the Zofnass Family Preserve/Westchester Wilderness Walk, a 250 acre nature preserve with a 10-mile long hiking trail in Pound Ridge, NY, 45 miles from NYC; donating a permanent New England Forest Exhibition at the Harvard Museum of Natural History, and creating the Zofnass Infrastructure Sustainability Program at Harvard to develop a rating system to evaluate Sustainability as it applies to major civil infrastructure projects. He serves as a Faculty Member for Harvard’s Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology; a Board member of Riverkeeper; a Board member of the Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, and served for 20 years on the board of the Westchester Land Trust. His wife has been a finance attorney for 35 years, served as Corporate Development Director for the Wildlife Conservation Society, and serves on a number of non-profit boards, including NY’s Historic House Trust, the Westchester Land Trust, and the Board of Directors of University of Virginia Law School. They have two daughters: one is a graduate of Harvard College and Tuck Business School, who lives in Denver with her husband and one-year old son, and works in finance; the other is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School, and is a senior associate at Bain Consulting in NYC.
Andrej has been with the firm since 1996 and has advised on over 120 completed merger & acquisition transactions, as well as numerous valuation, Peer Benchmarking Analysis and strategic consulting assignments in the a/e/c industry. He has presented to the Boards of Directors or senior management teams of over 300 a/e/c firms and has addressed several industry conferences. Andrej was formerly with Salomon Brothers, Inc., a major Wall Street investment banking firm, where he worked in the telecommunications group on mergers & acquisitions and capital raising. He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BBA summa cum laude degree from Freed-Hardeman University. His wife Deborah Davis is an equestrian and competes in dressage.
Conference & HR Director
Joan began working at EFCG in 1996, where she is now both Director of Conferences and HR. She holds both a PhD and a certificate in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and still maintains a private practice. She and her brother share a commitment to the environment and preserving and protecting it for future generations, a vision they inherited from their father and grandfather, both avid outdoorsmen. Together with her brother she helped to build and maintain the ten-mile trail network of the Westchester Wilderness Walk. Joan divides her time between New York and waterside homes in Marblehead, Massachusetts and Rye, N.H., where she can pursue her enthusiasms for birding, kayaking and rescuing wildlife. She has participated in several overseas expeditions focused on preserving wildlife and open spaces and was invited to become a member of the Explorers’ Club. She is also a four time New York Marathon finisher.
Director of Valuations
Dan joined EFCG in 2000. He directs EFCG’s Valuation Team, our Peer Benchmarking Analysis work, and our quarterly analyses of the roughly 40 publicly-traded engineering firms. He also oversees the Financial Analysts. Formerly of Dominick & Dominick, Dan holds a BS Degree from Cornell University, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. His wife is a first grade New York school teacher, and they have three young children.
Josh joined EFCG in 2007. He works on our financial analyses and modeling, preparing our Peer Benchmarking Analyses, as well as assisting in M&A, corporate research and our industry surveys. He is also responsible for maintaining our website, internal communications and internal databases. Josh holds a BA Degree from Harvard University, where he played on their varsity soccer Ivy League Championship team.
Tyler originally joined EFCG in 2011. He focuses on M&A, financial analysis and modeling, and strategic and financial consulting projects. Tyler completed business school in 2014-2016, where he focused on private equity finance, mergers & acquisitions, and distressed investing/restructuring. Prior to rejoining EFCG in 2017, Tyler was a restructuring investment banker at Ducera Partners and a principal at Gansett Companies, a distressed credit investment firm. Tyler holds an MBA from NYU Stern and BA in Economics from Harvard University.
Joe joined EFCG in 2014. He will be helping with our financial modeling and analysis, M&A and will take over responsibilities for our CHRO Conference, as well as Human Resources and Compensation Surveys and Benchmarking. Prior to joining EFCG, Joe worked at CIT Group and a family investment office. He holds an MS in Operations Research from Columbia University, as well as a BSE in Mechanical Engineering and a BA in Philosophy from Case Western Reserve University, where he was the captain of the varsity tennis team.
Dimitri joined EFCG in 2014. Prior to EFCG, Dimitri earned a BS in Biology from Fordham University, and worked in scientific research. Dimitri assists in directing all of EFCG’s conferences, and Human Resources and Compensation Surveys and Benchmarking.
Marco joined EFCG in 2017. He will be helping with our CHRO Conference and HR / Compensation benchmarking. Marco holds an MA in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University, as well as a BA in Psychology (minor in Business Administration) from Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he played on their Division I varsity tennis team.
Diane joined EFCG in 2012. In addition to serving as Executive Assistant to Paul, she serves as Controller for the firm, and overall Administrative Director. Diane and her husband Ray, who is a consultant for the FDNY, have three children.
